The Bank of Lithuania – Let’s Create the Financial Future Together

The Bank of Lithuania is the central bank of the Republic of Lithuania. Our mission is to create benefit for society by striving for a reliable financial system and secure money. We pursue this in various ways.

Together with the central banks of other euro area countries, the Bank of Lithuania participates in making Eurosystem monetary policy decisions important for all of Europe. The level of interest rates and price developments throughout the euro area depend on them. In order to make balanced decisions, we closely monitor the country's economy, publish forecasts related to its development, conduct economic research, and evaluate the stability of the Lithuanian financial system and potential risks.

Many of us use the services of commercial banks and credit unions, insurance companies, payment, electronic money, and other financial institutions. Specialists of the Bank of Lithuania supervise that their activities are reliable, transparent, and comply with the laws. In case of disputes between consumers and financial institutions, we resolve them impartially.

We are responsible for the stability of the entire country's financial system. Seeking to prevent the inflation of credit bubbles dangerous to the economy, we use tools to reduce risks. Responsible lending regulations help ensure that residents borrow, and lenders lend, responsibly, and the assumed burden does not become too large.

Every day, residents or companies perform a part of their electronic transfers through the payment systems supervised by us.

We also release cash into circulation – euro banknotes and coins; almost every day, everyone holds them in their hands and pays for goods and services. We are responsible for Lithuania’s gold reserves. We are entrusted to directly manage other Lithuanian financial assets as well. Our professionals invest them. From the earned funds, we cover our organization's expenses, and we transfer the majority of the profit to the state budget.

We strive to be an advanced, proactive, and open central bank of the Eurosystem.

The Bank of Lithuania is constantly waiting for responsible, honest, analytically and innovatively thinking, and motivated people who want to do meaningful work. Internship opportunities will be available from May 2026. After successfully completing an internship, you may receive a job offer.

Why you should choose the Bank of Lithuania: excellent learning opportunities, the opportunity to apply expert knowledge is provided, meaningful work for Lithuania, friendly and competent colleagues, and work that creates a high impact for Lithuania and the world.
